The #19’s Czech weekend ends early after a late crash in Saturday morning’s final Free Practice session

The MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship’s Round 5 action was off and running on Saturday after an intriguing opening day left World Superbike fans hungry for more. Free Practice 3 action was into the final minutes of the session when, with just over a minute left, Alvaro Bautista (Barni Spark Racing Team) and his Ducati Panigale V4R went up in a cloud of dust on the heavy-braking Turn 20. The red flag was waved, and the session was brought to a close early with such little time left in the session. Bautista, however, was stretchered off from the gravel to the medical centre, where he was later diagnosed with fractures to his right foot, including the midfoot, malleolus and calcaneus bones in the ankle area, ruling him out for the remainder of the Czech Round.

The rest of the field returns for their first race of the weekend at 14:00 (UTC +2 local time)! Tune in Live and OnDemand with the WorldSBK VideoPass! Now 30% off!
